Northview Bank Lends in Grand Rapids

Lakes, woods, culture, and summer fun—Grand Rapids has it all. At the intersection of Highways 169 and 2, Grand Rapids is the county seat for Itasca County, which is home to over 1,000 lakes. Just to the north and west lay millions of acres of public and industrial forest, including the 150,000 acre Paul Bunyan State Forest, the 320,000 acre George Washington State Forest, and the 1.8 million acre Chippewa National Forest, home to a great many bald eagles. The forests offer vast tracts of rough and hilly woodlands with many lakes, ponds, and bogs: perfect for camping, hunting, or fishing.

Notable lakes near Grand Rapids include Pokegama, Sand, Deer, and the huge Winnibigoshish. Pokegama Lake is a deep, clear, 6,700 acre lake with abundant northern, smallmouth, and walleye. Sand Lake is a 3,400 acre lake plunging to 70 feet deep that offers good fishing. Deer Lake, at 4,100 acres, is great for muskie, smallmouth, and walleye. Winnibigoshish is a legendary body of water. At 56,000 acres its depths hold plenty of secrets and more than a few people suspect that world records muskies reside there. All of these are great places to find lake cabins for sale for that perfect summer retreat.

Grand Rapids itself has a very strong art scene including choral groups like the Grand Rapids Area Male Chorus and Itasca Choral Society, performing artists like the West Range Country Show and the Grand Rapids Players, and great venues like the MacRostie Art Center, the Edge Center for the Arts, and the Reif Performing Arts Center. Coffeehouses like Brewed Awakenings give a cozy place to catch up with a friend.

With all of the sporting and cultural opportunities, Grand Rapids truly has something for everyone. If you’re interested in a lake home, lake cabin, or log home, click here to get preapproved.
